Fresh off the release of his most recent studio album Call Me If You Get Lost this Friday (June 25), Tyler, the Creator performed the album’s advance single “Lumberjack” at tonight’s BET Awards.
Tyler began the performance being driven in the backseat, with a voiceover conversation warning him to be careful in the midst of a predicted windstorm the night of his performance. The rapper was then dropped off at his house, but saw his efforts to get his mail and bring in his luggage interrupted by the predicted (and increasingly dramatic) storm — with the performance ending as a gust of wind blew Tyler all the way offscreen.
The performance was Tyler’s first public appearance since the quasi-surprise release of Call Me If You Get Lost, which is projected to be one of this week’s best-performing albums. His last set, 2019’s IGOR, debuted atop the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for best rap album.
