With less than two weeks to go, this year’s Billboard Music Awards already features an impressive roster of performances. Today (May 11), Billboard can confirm that The Chainsmokers, Halsey, and Sam Hunt will be joining the evening’s lineup.
The Chainsmokers are nominated for top artist, and have earned (alongside Drake) the most nominations for this year with a staggering 22. Their 12-week Billboard Hot 100 leader “Closer” (from their Billboard 200 crowning debut Memories…Do Not Open) is nominated for a slew of awards, including top Hot 100 song.
Halsey, the featured vocalist on “Closer” (and fellow Billboard Music Award nominee), will be looking forward to promoting her upcoming sophomore LP hopeless fountain kingdom. It’s yet to be known if Billboard‘s 2016 Women In Music Rising Star will perform her top 40 hit “Now or Never,” recently released ballad “Eyes Closed,” or new material.
Sam Hunt — whose debut album, Montevallo, spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart — will add more representation for country on the Las Vegas stage. His current single “Body Like A Back Road” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
These artists join previously announced performers on the broadcast Camila Cabello, Drake, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Lorde, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj and Ed Sheeran, as well as Miley Cyrus‘ televised performance debut of “Malibu”, Celine Dion‘s 20-year celebration of “My Heart Will Go On,” and 2017 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award recipient, Cher.
The Billboard Music Awards airs live on Sunday, May 21 at 8 p.m. ET /5 p.m. PT.
