Wreathed in cherry blossoms and purple lights, Mendes manned the stage on acoustic guitar while Zedd played piano in a dapper sequined suit jacket. The backing band arrangement handled the upbeat elements of the danceable number, which brought most of the AMAs crowd to their feet — notably Camila Cabello, who stuck out her tongue and flashed a grin to the camera.
Zedd released his remix of “Lost in Japan” in September. The song’s original version appears on Shawn Mendes’ self-titled third album, which topped the Billboard 200 upon its May release.
