Roddy Ricch made the most of his opportunity at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Mar. 14), not only playing his Grammy-nominated breakout solo smash “The Box,” but also playing a portion of a new song.
Roddy began his performance at the piano, wearing an orange leather jacket and black leather pants, leading a live band in the emotional new “Heartless.” “This life left me heartless/ And I came from apartments/ The money turned me into a target/ Got a hellcat dodge it,” he sang in the hook to the unreleased song. Then he jumped to his feet to take the stage for a verse and chorus to his signature chart-topper “The Box,” performing in a faux-rainstorm.
Roddy Ricch was nominated for six Grammys on the night, between his own “The Box” and his own feature on DaBaby’s “Rockstar,” which the duo performed early in the night — though he went home empty-handed on the night, losing all six nominations.
