After storming the stage with Taylor Swift for a rousing opening to the show, Panic! At The Disco made a serious impression at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday (May 1) with a spectacular performance of “Look Ma, I Made It.”
Wearing a gold and glittering suit jacket, frontman Brendon Urie emerged through a crowd of backup dancers, making his way to the front of the stage. As the singer worked his way through the song’s first verse, a partition lifted, revealing the rest of the band and a massive brass chorus, all dancing and bopping along as Urie stormed the stage with his high-energy dance moves.
Clearly, Urie’s energy was infectious — as the star leaped and bounded around the stage, cutaways to the crowd showed nearly every audience member on their feet and dancing along to the track. One of those audience members was Swift, beaming with pride as her newest collaborator closed out the song with a bang…of confetti canons.
PATD was also nominated for five awards at the ceremony, including top duo/group and top rock song for “High Hopes,” which they won shortly after their performance.
