Burt Reynolds, Stan Lee, Penny Marshall and Tab Hunter were among the deceased Hollywood figures remembered at the 91st Annual Academy Awards during the telecast’s In Memoriam segment.
Carol Channing, who received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress in 1968 for her role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, was conspicuously omitted from the reel. The actress died of natural causes in January.
The tribute was soundtracked by the The Los Angeles Philharmonic, directed by Gustavo Dudamel. The orchestra is celebrating its centennial year.
For the memorial, the philharmonic played music of composer John Williams, known for scoring the Star Wars series, Jaws, and several Jurassic Park and Harry Potter films, among others.
