David Bowie‘s son might not have been “overexcited” about Lady Gaga‘s tribute to his father during the 2016 Grammys on Monday, but one of Bowie’s most famous collaborators has taken to Twitter to defend her honor — and his own.
Lady Gaga Dazzles With David Bowie Tribute at 2016 Grammys
After Gaga performed an athletic montage of what seemed like every Bowie hit ever recorded, Bowie’s son Duncan Jones tweeted the dictionary definition of the word “gaga” in what some interpreted as disapproval of the singer’s homage.
“overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.” Damn it! What IS that word!?

Gaga performed the tribute with legendary musician/producer Nile Rodgers, who collaborated with Bowie on his iconic album Let’s Dance, among several other projects. On Wednesday (Feb. 17), Rodgers fired off a series of tweets defending their Grammy performance and humbly reminding all the haters that he would know what Bowie would or would not have appreciated. Here are some highlights below:
Many artists and tributes were performed, we did what we thought and still think was right in our short time slot. x https://t.co/NottaU93am
