
The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards nominations were announced today (July 23). Through the announcement, two new categories were unveiled, best K-pop and video for good.
The pair of additions reflects the MTV-hosted award show’s increasing recognition of the impact of K-pop and the force of music, and music videos, as a platform for positive messaging.
In the K-pop category, works by BTS featuring Halsey, BLACKPINK, Monsta X featuring French Montana, NCT 127, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and EXO were nominated, while video for good nominations included releases by Halsey, The Killers, Jamie N Commons, John Legend, Lil Dicky, and Taylor Swift.
This year’s VMAs will be held on Aug. 26 and wil lair on MTV.
