Asked what advice she would give to women struggling to find their self-worth, Megan Thee Stallion told Billboard that no one should let anyone tell them they are not a queen. She then revealed that she used to get bullied when she was in elementary school.
After she was particularly upset by something said to her one day, she told her mother, who inspired her to stand up for herself. “It felt really good [to tell the bully off],” she said. “So then, after that, I just never gave a f— about what anybody had to say about me.”
In the interview, Megan Thee Stallion also discussed why she loves Beyoncé so much and how she helps her through difficult times. “Everybody knows that I super-love Beyoncé,” she explained. “I’m from Houston, she’s from Houston. I’ve been listening to her all my life.”
Megan Thee Stallion noted that if she ever questions whether she is doing the right thing or if she ever feels down, she watches old Beyoncé interviews. “I watch her talk about basically going through the same struggles that I feel like I’m going through right now,” she added. “If Beyoncé could get through it, I could get through it.”
