On Thursday night (Dec. 12), Rapsody presented her “sister in rhyme” Megan Thee Stallion with the Powerhouse Award at the 2019 Billboard Women In Music.
Megan, who admittingly showed up late to the ceremony due to her taking a final exam was giggly and curt with her acceptance speech. “Everybody really knows that it’s women who’s running the scenes,” she quipped. “I’m just happy to be apart of it. I can’t believe that they let me up in here.”
The “super appreciative” Stallion basked in her glory, but still revealed that she has more work to do in order to reach her potential. “I’m 24, I’m from Texas and I really like to grind,” she said. “I really like to work. I’m just getting started. Y’all gon’ see where I take it.”
After delivering her short speech, Megan graced the stage and performed “Cash Sh-t” sans DaBaby. The Stallion had no problem bringing the heat as she cranked up the intensity alongside her bodacious dancers.
This year, Megan Thee Stallion notched a bevy of Hot 100 singles with “Big Ole Freak,” “Cash Sh-t” and her scorcher “Hot Girl Summer” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj.
