Colombian singer Maluma pulled off an epic, socially-distanced performance at the Skyline Drive-In in New York City during the 2020 MTV VMAs on Sunday (Aug. 30).
Performing from the Greenpoint, Brooklyn waterfront, Maluma opened his number while sitting atop a motorcycle and wearing a sunny yellow suit. With a glittery backdrop — and the shimmering water — behind him, the singer hit every note during his rendition of “Hawai.”
Surrounded by backup dancers in coordinating yellow outfits, Maluma performed to a distanced audience watching from their cars. He capped off the set with an explosion of fireworks.
Finally, Maluma also took home the Video Music Award for best Latin, and delivered his acceptance speech from the performance spot.
