Kenny Chesney opened the 53rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night (April 15) with the live television debut performance of new single, “Get Along,” which will appear on his upcoming 18th album.?
Chesney owned the crowd, performing in the middle of the venue while his band played on the main stage. Rocking a laid-back outfit including his signature cowboy hat, the country legend looked enthusiastic as he belted the tune’s hopeful lyrics. “Get along on down the road / We’ve got a long, long way to go / Scared to live, scared to die / We ain’t perfect, but we try,” he sung. The star is no stranger the the awards show: he’s took home the Entertainer of the Year Award five times throughout his career.?
“Get Along” was co-written by Shane MacAnally and Josh Osborne, who are also nominated for Songwriter of the Year at this year’s ACMs. The song marks Chesney’s first release since signing with Warner Music Nashville earlier this year after his longtime relationship with Sony Music.
