After winning awards for two songs off her 2018 album Golden Hour, Kacey Musgraves floored the audience at the 61st annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 10) with an enthralling performance of one of the LP’s quietest cuts.
Musgraves kept it simple and stunning for “Rainbow.” Wearing an ethereal white gown, she stood by an iridescent piano as the lights behind her created an L.E.D. rainbow of her own. She soared through the empowering track, nailing every note as she encouraged listeners to keep working through their storms and have faith in the rainbow awaiting them at the end of their struggle.
Before taking the stage for “Rainbow,” Musgraves collected two Grammys for “Space Cowboy,” which won in the best country song category, and “Butterflies,” which was dubbed the best country solo performance.
The night isn’t over for her yet, as Golden Hour is a contender for both album of the year and best country album.
