After what seemed to be a stage malfunction, James Corden took the Grammy stage in silly Chris Farley fashion on Sunday night (Feb. 12) and continued the hilarity by scolding his backup dancers for “messing up” his big entrance.
“This is a disaster,” Corden exclaimed. “We cannot allow these sort of mistakes, this is the Grammys people!”
Once the girls left the stage, this year’s Grammys host then busted into a Hamilton-style rap about what the night had in store — mentioning Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement and Sturgill Simpson’s underdog status — as well as some performers like Lady Gaga and Metallica, Bruno Mars and Maren Morris. And, of course, MC Corden threw in a mention of Donald Trump’s already controversial presidency.
If the Broadway star-turned-late night host felt he needed to prove his place as host of music’s biggest night, this was a pretty great way to do so.
