Although Iggy Azalea was on hand to accept the honor for Women in Music‘s 2014 Chart-Topper on Friday afternoon in New York, the Australian rapper turned the spotlight on another woman during her acceptance speech. According to Iggy, Sarah Sennett — the CEO of her management company — is the women she owes her career to.

“I had a rocky start in the music business,” Azalea stated bluntly. “I thought I was going to get this massive record deal, and then I didn’t. And I thought my life and career was over — no one would return my phone calls.”
Azalea said a sit-down with Sarah Sennett changed everything. “Sarah heard my story and she said, ‘That’s terrible, I can’t let that happen to you.’ Without her, I would probably have no career at all. She single-handedly convinced everyone in this room to take a chance on me.”

In her introduction to Iggy, Sennett shared an interesting tidbit about the rapper: “She’s a wonderful painter.” Consider our curiousity piqued.
