Hayley Kiyoko spoke with Billboard’s Danica Daniel ahead of Billboard’s Women in Music event on Thursday night (Dec. 12) in Los Angeles, chatting about the importance of women supporting other women in the music industry and what fans can expect from her upcoming tour.
Kiyoko, who was last year’s Rising Star award recipient, is asked how it feels to be back, this time as the evening’s host.
“It feels great to be back,” she replies. “It was one of my favorite nights of my entire life, and as you can feel, the energy in this room and women supporting women, it’s just so powerful, and I’m really excited to see everyone tonight.”
“I think it’s so important to feel validated by your community, and to lift each other up, and recognize all of the hard work that everyone here is putting into the industry,” Kiyoko adds.
In the interview, she also discusses her 2020 US tour, which will be called “I’m Too Sensitive For This S–t,” as well as her brand new single, “Runaway,” which she says she will be playing at the shows, along with all of her other new music.
