On Sunday night (March 14), Harry Styles kicked off the 2021 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles with a jazzy rendition of his Hot 100 chart-topper “Watermelon Sugar.”
Headlined by his series of snazzy dance moves and flashy outfit choice — a black leather jacket with a green boa — Styles didn’t hold back as the show’s opener. Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, performed along with Styles’ band, which included Spencer Ludwig on the trumpet. Hynes also music-directed Styles’ performance.
Nominated for three awards, including best pop solo performance for “Watermelon Sugar,” best music video for “Adore You” and best pop vocal album for his second album, Fine Line, the 27-year-old’s ascension from teen heartthrob from One Direction to pop superstar is a great success story.
Fine Line enjoyed two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200, while “Watermelon Sugar” topped the Hot 100. “Adore You” peaked at No. 6.
