Grammy weekend always means a dizzying party schedule. But this year, more industry insiders than normal are scratching their heads wondering how they could possibly fit everything in and stay in good standing in the music biz.
Here’s why: Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala (sponsored by the Recording Academy and this year honoring manager Irving Azoff with its Salute to Industry Icons Award) is going down the same night as Apple executive and Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine’s wedding to Liberty Ross. Both are in Beverly Hills — Davis’ party is always at the Hilton while David Geffen is hosting the nuptials at his estate mere miles away — but that doesn’t make it any easier, as the start time for each falls within an hour of one another.
If anything, the A-list scheduling situation provides plenty of fodder for party small talk. Here’s where people will be gabbing during Grammy weekend and on the Monday after, following the big show on CBS.
