Pink is known for her over-the-top awards show performances — and when we say “over the top,” we literally mean over the top of the audience, of the stage, of the rafters, floating in midair on some sort of elastic fabric. So what did she do to top herself at the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 28)?
Pink took to the stage to perform “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken,” from her 2017 album Beautiful Trauma — and her over-the-top move this year was to strip things down. It all started with her understated fashion: a white off-the-shoulder T-shirt paired with jeans and bare feet. And instead of a pack of dancers joining her onstage, she was only joined by a sign-language interpreter also dressed in white and denim.
Instead of theatrics, Pink’s power vocals took center stage, as she nailed the impossibly high notes at the song’s emotional climax. For the final phrase of the song, Pink signed the lyrics along with her mirrored interpreter.
