Looking ahead to music’s biggest night, Billboard‘s Kevan Kenney, Vibe‘s Shenequa Golding and Mikey Fresh, and veteran music journalist John Norris discuss who could grab a spot for Best Rap Album nomination at the 2018 Grammys.
Across the board, Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. is the consensus album most likely to snag a spot. “He’s been one of the most important and conscious rappers with commercial success to come out in the last year,” Fresh says.
Another critically acclaimed album tossed in the ring by Norris was Vince Staples‘ Big Fish Theory. While Staples has received kudos from the industry and critics, it’s hard to count him in as a shoe-in with the Recording Academy.
Other artists discussed include JAY-Z’s 4:44, Future’s self-titled offering, J. Cole‘s 4 Your Eyez Only and Migos‘ Culture. Watch the debate in the video albove.
