In addition to receiving the award, the “Worth It” singers will perform at the 10th annual event, which will air Dec. 18 on Lifetime.
“Fifth Harmony defines the consummate group dynamic: five women with a strong, united voice and a commitment to celebrating female empowerment,” said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. “In the few short years since they formed on The X Factor this diverse group of women has managed to make chart-topping music, develop a legion of passionate fans around the world and use their platform to promote self-esteem. They do it all so well, the very definition of a ‘Group of the Year.'”
At the same event, Lady Gaga will be honored as Woman of the Year, Selena Gomez honored as this year’s Chart Topper, Lana Del Rey honored as this year’s Trailblazer, Demi Lovato honored as this year’s Rulebraker and Alabama Shakes‘ Brittany Howard given the Powerhouse artist award.
Lovato, Gaga, Gomez and Howard will all also perform.
Billboard‘s 2015 Women in Music event is held in conjunction with the publication of Billboard’s Women in Music list, which selects the year’s 50 most powerful female executives in the industry.
Don Mischer Productions, whose work includes multiple Billboard Music Awards, Oscars, Emmys (including the last two) and Super Bowl Halftime Shows, will produce the televised outing, to be held at Cipriani Midtown in New York.
