Eve is set to host the 13th annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards, which celebrates “women owning, expanding and transforming the art of storytelling” as part of the Essence brand’s 50th anniversary.
The exclusive Oscar Week luncheon will take place at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills on Feb. 6, with Brittany Howard set to perform.
“I’m honored to host the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards this year,” Eve said in a press release announcing the news. “This is such an important time for women in the world — especially working in the entertainment industry both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Essence is such an incredible brand that I’ve looked up to over the years, so I’m over the moon to be a part of this event!”
The previously announced honorees for the event include Niecy Nash (When They See Us, Claws); Grammy-winning music video director Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim, Beyoncé‘s “Formation” music video); Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die); and the Pose cast (Mj Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross and Hailie Sahar) alongside co-executive producer/director/writer Janet Mock.
Emmy, Grammy and Tony-winning star Billy Porter, Emmy-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Alfre Woodard and Issa Rae comprise the list of presenters.
