A spot promoting the upcoming Grammys that aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday (Feb. 7) revealed what seemed to be exciting news: Drake’s name was mentioned among several other artists who are performing at this year’s awards ceremony.

However, Drake was apparently just as surprised by what the commercial may have suggested – since he says he’s not performing at this year’s Grammys.
“I am not performing at the Grammy Awards…but hey it’s the thought that counts,” the rapper tweeted.

Many other artists who have not been named as performers were also featured in the commercial — including Ice Cube, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, Luke Bryan and Nicki Minaj. These artists (along with Drake) were advertised as appearing (not necessarily performing) during the first hour of the show, though the extent of their involvement wasn’t really made clear.
Drake is nominated for four awards at the 2016 Grammy Awards, which airs on CBS on Feb. 15. The rapper is up for best rap album (If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late), best rap song (“Energy”), best rap/sung collaboration (“Only”) and best rap performance (“Back to Back” and “Truffle Butter”).
Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Diplo, Skrillex, Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt, Gary Clark Jr., Pitbull, Robin Thicke, and Travis Barker and the Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry) were officially added to the lineup of performers this week. The Grammys previously revealed that Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, the Broadway cast of Hamilton, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Lady Gaga (performing a David Bowie tribute), Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd will also be performing.
