Diplo and Walshy Fire stopped to chat with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 20) to discuss Camila Cabello, Diplo’s LSD project and to pay tribute to Avicii.
Speaking of Camila Cabello, who will be performing at the show tonight alongside Pharrell Williams, Diplo joked about his former collaborator’s success saying, “I hope she remembers the little people that helped her out.”
Diplo also chatted about LSD, his supergroup with Sia and Labrinth, revealing that they will be dropping more music this summer and that a full-length album will follow at the end of the summer.
On the subject of Sia and Labrinth, Diplo said that they have “the most insane amount of creative energy. Like in the studio we just get things done so quick. In three days we can write 20 records…When [Sia] gives one note, I could turn it into a symphony. She’s just got the most amazing voice, maybe in the whole industry right now.”
Diplo also paid tribute to the late Avicii, stating that he was a huge influence to him. “He kinda like was the first guy to really take the dance music and give another echelon to where it was worldwide,” he said.
