Desiigner received a Grammy nomination for his song “Panda,” and he’s pretty stoked about it.
The Brooklyn rapper was all smiles as he gushed over the best rap performance nod for his breakout tune in a video that’s part of Billboard‘s new Grammy video series. When asked what he thinks was so special about “Panda,” Desiigner almost seemed like he knew it was Grammy-worthy from the get-go.
“You know, it went crazy,” he says. “Had that energy, that beat, that crazy verse, you know how we do it.”
Desiigner went on to share that he was in London when the nominations were announced, and after he “turned up with friends,” he was right back in the studio. So whether he lands that prestigious gilded gramophone on Feb. 12 — when he’s up against Chance the Rapper‘s “No Problem” featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, Drake‘s “Pop Style” featuring The Throne, Fat Joe and Remy Ma‘s “All the Way Up” featuring French Montana and Infared, and ScHoolboy Q‘s “That Part” featuring Kanye West — fans can rest assured that it won’t be long before they hear some more post-“Panda” jams.
“It’s here. You feel me? Ready to create, ready to give more. It’s game time, baby, you dig?”
The Grammys will air live Sunday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
