At 24 years old, Grammy nominee Demi Lovato has transcended from Disney Channel star to a full-fledged pop vocal powerhouse. And similar to her music career, Lovato’s sartorial taste has matured into a “sexy, feminine and sultry” look that complements her powerful vocal range ability and mature music.
For the 2017 Grammy Awards, Lovato opted for an open-knit and highly textural floor-length gown from Julien Macdonald’s Spring 2017 RTW collection.
“I almost wanted the dress to disappear. Demi is in the best shape ever, so we wanted to showcase her beautiful figure and tattoos. I was looking for dresses that were lighter in color, avoiding blacks altogether, and wanting the gown to show that she now has become a woman,” her stylist Avo Yermagyan exclusively tells Billboard after the ceremony.

To complement the gold rings woven throughout the body-hugging and backless gown, Yermagyan accessorized with plenty of David Yurman diamonds, which he says is the one thing that excites her the most about fashion. To finish off the look, Demi wore gold high heels from Giuseppe Zanotti and a gold Edie Parker clutch. This shimmery edge was further amplified with Lovato’s extra long mermaid waves and smoky bronzed eyes and nude lip.
The two have worked together for almost three years, which he believes is the reason they’re able to push each other to try new trends. “I am always dedicated to making Demi not only look but also feel her best. We don’t settle into a formula of a look and are evolving together and open to embracing change and keeping her look au courant,” Yermagyan says. When he first laid eyes on the gown, he immediately knew it was the winning dress. “I think Demi was shocked when she first put on the dress; she has never worn anything quite like it. She is making bold moves as an artist, and the Grammys are the perfect place to make a statement.”
