During the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, on Wednesday (Oct. 14), Demi Lovato delivered the worldwide live premiere of her new politically-charged song “Commander in Chief.”
The track, which condemns President Trump, arrived earlier today and features production from Finneas.
The singer-songwriter-producer captioned Lovato’s single art on Instagram: “I think people underestimate the bravery it takes to put out a song like this when your platform is as large as Demi’s is. But I’m sure if you asked her, she’d tell you it was her responsibility.”
For her performance, Lovato delivered a stunning vocal performance while seated at the piano. Midway through, the screens behind her lifted to reveal backup singers who echoed the song’s sentiments by clapping and repeating “Won’t give up, stand our ground.”
