On Sunday night (April 18), Dan + Shay delivered a smooth helping of their single “Glad You Exist” at the 2021 ACM Awards.
Though the country pair dished out silky harmonies for their acoustic performance, fans noticed some technical difficulties while watching. “Either Dan and Shay really suck at lip synching OR the ACM awards needs to find a new audio guy. My guess is the audio was messed up. #ACMAwards,” tweeted one user. “Oh damn, Dan & Shay’s vocals aren’t lining up with their mouths #ACM,” said another. Despite their technical mishap, the duo remained resilient and powered through.
Released earlier this year, “Glad You Exist” speaks to love and gratitude in a fulfilling relationship. “We thought it would be a really cool song, and it turned into just a message about how grateful we are for everybody in our lives,” Dan Smyers told The Boot earlier this year. “And it’s taken on new meaning for us not being able to see everybody in person, so this song is super close to our hearts.”
For this year’s ACM Awards, Dan + Shay were nominated for Duo of the Year.
The ACM Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by MRC. MRC and Penske Media are co-parent companies of Billboard.
