When it came time for his performance at Sunday night’s 2021 BET Awards, DaBaby brought all the energy, the stunts, and of course, a giant baby mascot for his rendition of his single, “Ball If I Want To.”
Starting off in the crowd, DaBaby worked his way onto the stage in a teal letterman’s jacket, declaring that “it ain’t even my birthday, but I can ball if I want to.” The rapper danced alongside his mascot on a basketball court-themed stage, got a haircut, busted out his slickest dance moves, and played around with the crowd.
Then, the rising superstar literally rose into the air, carrying with him the “twenty-two inches of weave” he was rapping about, shaking it out for the crowd. Just as the performance started to come to a close, his cheerleading backup dancers pulled out all of the stops, a few basketballers delivered some slam dunks, and DaBaby brought it all together, striking his signature pose.
DaBaby was one of the top nominees at Sunday’s awards alongside Megan Thee Stallion, with seven total nominations, including album of the year, best male hip-hop artist, and multiple entries in the best collaboration category.
