Ciara did more than just host the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 24) — she helped kick off the night with a high-energy runthrough of her new single “Melanin.”
After descending from the ceiling on a ring, she busted out some hip-shaking choreography while celebrating “girls in every shade” who “put that ‘S’ in slay.’” Ciara brought along La La for her fierce verse and even changed up her lyrics to shout out a few stars in the crowd like Billie Eilish.
Her kids, watching from the audience, later hailed her performance as “good” when she asked them how she did. Tough critics! Well, even if she didn’t knock their socks off, she can rest assured that the majority of the crowd was sufficiently slayed.
