Introduced by Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild as “a singer, songwriter, father, husband and friend to all of us,” as well as “one of the great talents in music,” chart-topping country star Chris Stapleton took the CMT Music Awards back out to Nashville’s Broadway Wednesday night (Jun. 6) for a performance of his ballad “Millionaire.”
Unlike Sam Hunt’s bobbing and weaving through the bars of Broadway, Stapleton delivered a relatively simple and straightforward performance, staying relatively stationary on stage with his capo’d acoustic guitar. But his showing was no less memorable for its lack of movement, as the acclaimed performer offered a pitch-perfect rendition of his From A Room, Vol. 2 opener, leaving the Nashville crowd appropriately spellbound.
