MTV announced Thursday (May 10) that Chris Pratt will be honored for his contributions to film and television when he receives the Generation Award at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Known for his roles in Parks and Recreation, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jurassic World (among many others), Pratt’s versatility and dedication to his craft have made him into a household name and resonated with MTV’s viewers. He previously accepted the best action performance award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards show and delivered a speech that was dedicated to all the action heroes that came before him.
The 38-year-old star’s acheivements have also earned him a spot on the Time “100 Most Influential People” list in 2015, as well as his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He most recently appeared as his Guardians character Star-Lord in Avengers: Infinity War (which hit theaters on April 27), and will reprise his role as Owen Grady in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, out June 22.
Pratt will join an iconic list of celebrities who have received the Generation Award — including Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey — when he accepts the prize at this year’s show.
Hosted by Tiffany Haddish, the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards will air Monday, June 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles.
