Charli XCX is one of pop’s most in-demand songwriters and collaborators: aside from her pair of solo albums and 2014 hit “Boom Clap,” the U.K. star has scored Top 10 smashes on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and Icona Pop’s “I Love It.” So who else does Charli want to work with? Her list is long, no doubt, but Justin Bieber is on it, Charli told Billboard on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet on Sunday night (May 17).
“I like Justin Bieber as a pop star,” Charli XCX told Billboard at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. “I think he’s really, really great. I really love the song ‘Baby.’ I think it’s awesome.”

As far as writing for Bieber, who’s currently enjoying a featured hit with the Skrillex/Diplo collaboration “Where Are U Now,” Charli said, “I would love to. I’ve never written for a boy before. I don’t even know what I would say, but who knows?”
Charli XCX also spoke to Billboard about writing more songs for herself, her upcoming tour with Jack Antonoff (who she’s excited to pester!) and why the Billboard Music Awards are special to her. Watch below:
