The British singer-songwriter, who also wore Westwood’s designs to Billboard’s 2016 Women in Music Awards and the BRIT Awards 2016, matched the gown with red, ribbon tied Gianvito Rossi heels. A pair of oversized safety pin earrings by Westwood added an appropriately XCX punk edge to the ensemble.
“I pulled Vivienne Westwood, Moschino and Jacquemus for the Grammys,” Charli’s stylist Lisa Katnic tells Billboard. “Every piece of clothing had a completely different feeling, and at the end of the day, we went with classic glamour.”
Katnic and Charli have worked together for over two years cultivating the pop star’s bold and playful style. “There are two sides to Charli – one is silly and fun, and the other’s a sexy bombshell,” Katnic says describing her client and friend. “She’s always sort of riding the fence on those perspectives. Tonight, she fell into the bombshell side!”
As for beauty, Charli’s makeup artist Colby Smith went for a more subdued grunge look. “We wanted to do a ’90’s Gia supermodel vibe – lived in, a tad bit messy,” Smith tells Billboard. “Since her makeup is somewhat natural, I wanted to make sure her skin was the star.” Smith hydrated Charli’s face with Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque. “It’s my go to for makeup prep!” For eyes, Smith used Makeup Forever’s aqua XL eye pencil in M10 for a long lasting look.
