BTS who has been sweeping the nation, walked the red carpet last night (May 21) at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, making their debut appearance on the award show. The popular K-pop group was nominated for the Top Social Artist award at the event, and ended up bringing home the W, over North American megastars like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Before the night unfolded, Billboard caught up with the group on the carpet and chatted about the nomination and their unbelievably dedicated fans.
“They’ve been waiting like from this morning, in this hot weather,” BTS says on their supporters who were lined up to see them at the event. “It’s not easy and we’re so thankful for it. We’re lucky to have fans like those.”

The humbled boy band also couldn’t believe they were actually at the BBMAs, which they could remember all the way back from their school days — way before their singing careers took off. Although the group are now pros in the industry, they admitted they were still awkward at events, “Now we’re at the Billboard’s, and we still feel like newbs because we’re new here.”
When asked if there would be any possible future tour dates in the U.S., they explained that their tour just finished, but would be definitely up for it next year. Watch the whole red-carpet BTS interview below.
