Brittany Howard‘s powerhouse vocals were on clear display during the BIllboard Women in Music event in New York City on Dec. 11.
Hoda Kotb from Today introduced the Alabama Shakes‘ frontwoman, who sang “Joe” and accepted the Powerhouse honor at the event.
Howard stunned the crowd with her emotional performance, backed by three singers and a guitar player.
“Well look at that,” Howard said of the award. “I just want to say thank you for the honor.”
“Thank you Billboard, for bringing me here and exposing our music, the music of Albama Shakes,” she added.
She then thanked her family, her band, and her team.
Howard ended her speech with a shoutout to all the honorees. “This is such an honor to be in this room with all your wonderful, powerful women.”
