The 2020 ACM Awards opened Wednesday evening (Sept. 16) with a socially distanced medley of this year’s ACM entertainer of the year nominees performing their hits from some of the genre’s most renowned venues (which were naturally empty of audiences given the pandemic).
Luke Bryan kicked things off with “Rain Is a Good Thing,” followed by Eric Church (with sunglasses on, of course) explaining why he’s in his element with a “Drink In My Hand.” Luke Combs picked up the other Luke’s weathery cue with “When It Rains It Pours,” followed by Thomas Rhett singing “It Goes Like This” at the Ryman. Carrie Underwood wrapped it up with “Before He Cheats” at the Grand Ole Opry.
By the end of the evening, one of them will be named the 2020 ACM entertainer of the year. See the full list of nominees here.
