The Academy of Country Music revealed some of the performers lined up for its 55th annual ACM Awards on Sept. 16. The show will air from Nashville for the first time, from three iconic locations.
Artists performing at the historic Ryman Auditorium include Kelsea Ballerini (“Hole in the Bottle”), Gabby Barrett (“I Hope”), Maren Morris ( “To Hell & Back”), Old Dominion (hit medley) and Thomas Rhett featuring Jon Pardi (“Beer Can’t Fix”). Morris is this year’s most nominated female artist; Old Dominion, this year’s most nominated group; Rhett, this year’s most nominated male artist.
Artists performing at The Bluebird Cafe include Jimmie Allen (“Make Me Want To”), Luke Combs (“Better Together”), Tim McGraw (“I Called Mama”) and Miranda Lambert, Natalie Hemby & Luke Dick (“Bluebird”). Hemby and Dick co-wrote “Bluebird” with Lambert.
Additional artists and presenters, including artists performing from the third venue, the Grand Ole Opry House, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Ballerini, Morris and Lambert are nominated for female artist of the year. Rhett and Combs are nominated for male artist of the year. Old Dominion is nominated for group of the year. Barrett was nominated for new female artist of the year, but lost to Townes.
Keith Urban, the ACM’s reigning entertainer of the year, is hosting the three-hour show, which will air live on the East Coast, and three hours later on the West Coast. The ACM promises “a night of heart and hits.”
R.A. Clark, Amy Thurlow, Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco and Linda Gierahn are executive producers of the 55th annual ACM Awards. Damon Whiteside is executive producer for the Academy of Country Music.
CBS, the Academy of Country Music and dick clark productions announced the initial bookings on Wednesday (Aug. 26).
