For the 50th Juno Awards broadcasting on June 6, performers and presenters were announced Thursday (May 27).
The show will feature performances from Canada’s hitmakers, including Ali Gatie with Tate McRae, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, and “If the World Was Ending” duo JP Saxe and Julia Michaels. As the newest inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Jann Arden is also set to perform.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the show’s rap recording of the year category, hip-hop stars Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, Maestro Fresh Wes, Nav and Haviah Mighty will give a special performance to pay homage to Canada’s homegrown rap scene.
Besides the performances, presenters during the ceremony will include country crossover star Shania Twain, holiday favorite Michael Bublé, and “Here” singer Alessia Cara. Comedian Will Arnett and Kim Convenience‘s Andrew Phung are also scheduled to make appearances.
Earlier, it was announced that Justin Bieber will perform on the Junos stage for first time in 11 years — signaling a return to his Canadian roots following the recent success of his hit album Justice. Additionally, The Tragically Hip will take the stage for a performance with indie singer Feist.
Due to the pandemic, the Junos will not be held in a single venue. Instead, categories will be presented and televised from a variety of music venues throughout Canada. According to reps for the show, those venues will remain a surprise until the show airs on June 6.
To tune in from Canada, CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music and CBC Listen will air the Juno Awards this Sunday (June 6) at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. ET. Globally, the ceremony will be streamed on CBCMusic.ca/junos and livestreamed on CBC Music’s TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.
