The nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday (July 28). It didn’t take long before the onscreen talent and those behind the scenes making the magic happen celebrated the recognition of their hard work with messages on social media and to Billboard.
And in singer and This Is Us star Mandy Moore’s case, she offered cheers to not only colleagues who received nominations, but to her own spouse as well. “SO proud of our #thisisus team on the Emmy love,” tweeted the actress, who did not receive a nom. “The unstoppable force that is @SterlingKBrown, Ron Cephas Jones, Phylicia Rashad, our hair department led by Michael Reitz and @SiddKhoslaMusic + my husband @dawestheband on their nomination for best original song!” Moore’s husband Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes wrote the song “Memorized” for an episode of the hit NBC show she stars on alongside Brown, who was nominated for lead actor in a drama.
HBO’s Watchmen topped the nominations list with 26, while Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was second with 20. In third were Netflix’s Ozark and HBO’s Succession, which both earned 18.

I consider myself lucky to be a part of this incredible piece of art,” says Ingrid Michaelson, who was nominated for music and lyrics. “An immense thanks to Liz Tigelaar and the rest of the Little Fires Everywhere family for their support.”
“I’m absolutely floored and honored to be nominated, and so happy to see other women and diverse voices included in all music categories!” says Amanda Jones, who was nominated in the category of music composition for a documentary series or special. “Thank you for seeing us and celebrating our work.”
“To be nominated with so many other amazingly talented composers is a huge win in itself,” says composer Nathan Barr, who was nominated for composition for a limited series and twice in the original title theme music category. “It’s gratifying to have all those hours and days spent in the studio seen and heard and acknowledged.”
“I am thrilled, shocked and elated to have received two Emmy nominations this morning for the music for Why We Hate. I hope that as a result of these nominations, this incredibly prescient series will become even more a part of the public consciousness,” says Laura Karpman, who was nominated for music for a documentary series and main title theme music. “We need to root out hatred in this fragile world of ours. “I just heard the good news about the Emmy nomination for Better Call Saul music supervision as I am waking up from my return from a two-week COVID-19-dodging RV road trip through national parks and campgrounds in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona,” says Thomas Golubic. “What a lovely bit of news to celebrate over my first home-made espresso!”

My Stranger Things family raises the bar yet AGAIN for the 3rd season!” exclaims Nora Felder to Billboard when she heard about her nod for music supervision. “It’s truly an honor to be a part of the shows main silent characters. The music!”
The ceremony airs Sunday, Sept. 20, on ABC.
