The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are just a week away, and the race for Top R&B Artist is tight.
Nominees The Weeknd and Chris Brown are vying to become the first repeat winner in this category, since The Weeknd won the title in 2016 and Brown locked it down in 2012. The Weeknd is also up for Top R&B Song with “Heartless,” and if he wins, the Canadian-Ethiopian superstar would become the first repeat winner in that category since “The Hills” won back in 2016.
Brown is also in the running for Top R&B Song for “No Guidance,” featuring Drake, alongside fellow Top R&B Artist nominees Khalid (“Talk”) and Lizzo (“Good As Hell”).
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards will air Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET, live from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on NBC, with Kelly Clarkson returning for her third year as the evening’s host. The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC Entertainment, the parent company of Billboard.
