The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are fast approaching, and five Latin artists are still vying for the top slot.
Ozuna and Romeo Santos are neck-and-neck to become the first three-time winner for top Latin artist. Ozuna won the last two years, while Santos won in 2015 and 2016.
Bad Bunny, who will also be performing at this year’s awards show, made Billboard chart history earlier this year when his third album YHLQMDLG became the highest-charting all-Spanish-language album on the Billboard 200 with a No. 2 debut, as well as “the biggest streaming week ever for a Latin album and the largest week for a Latin title since Billboard began tracking albums by equivalent album units in December of 2014.”
Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Anuel AA and J Balvin all gained two nods each in the top latin song category, but J Balvin scored another nomination in a non-Latin category. He and The Black Eyed Peas are up for top dance/electronic song for “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life).”
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards will air Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. ET, live from Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on NBC, with Kelly Clarkson returning for her third year as the evening’s host. The 2020 Billboard Music Awards are produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC Entertainment, the parent company of Billboard.
