On Sunday night (Feb. 12), 2 Chainz celebrated his first Grammy award win at a Def Jam after-party in Los Angeles with Iggy Azalea, Bibi Bourelly, Desiigner and Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels also in attendance.
Sponsored by Absolut Elyx, guests spent their time at a private mansion dancing the night away. Donning a navy blue suit with a white button-up, 2 Chainz was beaming with joy because of his latest feat. After four previous attempts that resulted in him leaving empty-handed, the 39-year-old rapper notched his first Grammy for best rap performance as a featured artist on Chance the Rapper‘s single “No Problem.”
“Everybody has their trial and tribulations and stories of where they came from, but it’s very, very humbling for me,” said Chainz on nabbing his first gold trophy. “My mom calls me Tah, my friends call me Tity, everybody else calls me Chainz. I got my first Grammy today. I’ve been doing what I love doing. You know, [I’ve been] working my ass off. There’s been a lot of long nights and short days. There’s been a lot of hard work, a lot of long prayers, but let me tell you, it don’t stop. So, like I say, each and everyday, I try to get better than I was the previous. Shout-out to my crew, my family in here, and the label,” he concluded his speech.
Serving as the night’s special guest DJ under his moniker “DJ Hibachi,” Chainz provided a festive set for everyone in attendance. With a slew of gaudy chains draped over his neck, he dug into his bag of club bangers including Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode,” 2Pac’s “California Love,” his single “Watch Out” and his personal favorite song, Migos’ “Bad and Boujee.”
