Welcome to the latest episode of the Billboard.com Pop Shop Podcast, Billboard’s weekly half-hour audio breakdown of the Billboard charts, hottest music news and year’s biggest musical events. Casual pop fans and chart junkies can hear Billboard co-director of charts Keith Caulfield and Billboard.com senior editor Katie Atkinson every Tuesday on the Pop Shop Podcast, which can be streamed on Billboard.com or downloaded in iTunes (click here to listen to the previous episode on Billboard.com).
On our latest episode, we chat with Chilli from the legendary girl group TLC all about her collaboration with Beachbody on a dance workout and new song “Body”; Katie even tried out the Cize dance workout in a class led by Chilli herself. We also learned the latest on TLC’s upcoming Kickstarter-funded album and what it will have in common with the 1994 classic CrazySexyCool. Inspired by the Chilli interview, Keith and Katie run through their favorite girl groups of all time (Destiny’s Child! Sugababes! Salt-N-Pepa!), as well as the top 10 biggest Billboard Hot 100 hits ever by girl groups (No. 1 might surprise you).
Over on the charts, Rihanna is at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Anti and the Hot 100 with “Work” — the second time she’s pulled double-duty at the top of our flagship charts — and Ariana Grande makes a top 10 debut on the Hot 100 with “Dangerous Woman.” On the Top Album Sales chart, Joey + Rory‘s Hymns is the week’s best-selling album, one of only a handful of Christian albums to claim that feat.
