Even though no one in Sunflower Bean is of legal drinking age, the Brooklyn indie trio’s Human Ceremony is one of the most fully realized, sonically eclectic debut albums (everything from psych pop to stoner metal gets touched upon) in a minute.
The band — Jacob, Julia and Nick — stopped by Billboard’s offices to sit in as special guests on the Must-Hear Music podcast and offer their picks for the best albums and songs of 2016 so far.
In addition to praising the new material from DIIV, Porches and Honduras, Sunflower Bean explains how they got together, what exactly it means when one band is “friends” with another band, and why 21+ concerts are “cruel” to teenagers who need music the most.
