Last year on the Must-Hear Music podcast, we kicked off summer 2016 with the accurate (but not terribly impressive, to be honest) prediction that Drake’s “One Dance” would be that year’s Song of the Summer.
On this week’s Must-Hear Music podcast, we (myself, Jason Lipshutz and Lyndsey Havens) make our predictions for 2017 Song of the Summer, including frontrunner “Despacito” from Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, “I’m the One” from DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Bieber and Lil Wayne and more of the songs leading Billboard’s Songs of the Summer chart.
We also talk about potential challengers for the crown such as Julia Michaels’ “Issues,” Imagine Dragons’ “Believer,” Kygo and Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me” and Zedd and Alessia Cara’s “Stay.” We also talk about dark horse candidates and give our personal picks for what we hope the defining summer song will be in 2017.
