If you’re going to wait five years in between albums, you better come back in a big way. We haven’t had a new release from Peter Bjorn and John since 2011, but rest assured their new LP Breakin’ Point (which is out now) delivers. A star-studded cast of collaborators like Greg Kurstin, Paul Epworth, Patrik Berger and Emile Haynie joined the Swedes in the studio, and the end result was a batch of alt-pop fireworks that’ll burst nicely alongside the recent output from Vampire Weekend, Tegan and Sara and Haim.

The band stopped by Billboard’s New York office for a new episode of the Alt In Our Stars podcast, and now is the perfect time to get reacquainted. It was “Young Folks” that put them on the map, but 10 years after their breakthrough single, a killer album from top to bottom is no problem for these veterans. They discussed why the so-called “whistle song” is still a mainstay in their set list,l and to set the record straight, they do care about the young folks — all three members are now fathers, and they discussed the myriad ways they’re getting their kids into music.
The trio discussed their involvement with the Stockholm-based artist collective INGRID, which not only released Breakin’ Point, but provided panoramic multimedia support — something they had plenty of over the past five years.
