On the latest Billboard Hot 100, Justin Bieber scores his seventh No. 1 hit with “Peaches” — and he’s not alone at the top. It’s also the first Hot 100 chart-topper for featured vocalists Daniel Caesar and Giveon, who both get solo verses on the smash hit from Bieber’s Billboard 200 No. 1 album Justice.
This is just the latest in Bieber’s very collaborative history on the Hot 100. Of his 98 appearances on the chart, exactly half — 49 hits — have been alongside other artists. And we’ve seen his evolution from early chart appearances, when features from Usher (“Somebody to Love,” “First Dance”) or Ludacris (“Baby,” “Around the World”) helped put his songs on the map, to now, when he’s the one lifting a song’s profile — most notably with Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” which tied the record at the time for most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with help from a Bieber remix.
On the latest Billboard Pop Shop Podcast (listen below), we discuss the impact of a Bieber feature, how he’s been able to nimbly jump around genres over his decade-plus career, and what genre we’d like to see him bounce to next.
Also on the show, we’ve got chart news about Bieber’s dual debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, plus Lana Del Rey scoring the week’s top-selling album with Chemtrails Over the Country Club thanks to its blockbuster sales on vinyl LP.
