First up, Turner offers a peek into the Panthers’ locker room playlist (which is sprinkled with 2 Chainz and DJ Esco’s latest projects) and also shares his impromptu pep talk with fellow New Orleans native Lil Wayne after his team lost to the Denver Broncos at this year’s Super Bowl 50. “We actually had a chance to talk one time after we finished out season,” Turner says of his convo with Tunechi. “[He just said] good season, keep your head up, get back to where you going and that was that.”
Turner also said there there was no pressure for Cam Newton and company to show and prove this season. “I wouldn’t say pressure, no,” the esteemed guard says. “We start 0-0 [like every other team] so there’s no pressure. We have the opportunity to make whatever we want and create the way that we want — we just know we have more people looking at us.”
Rap OG E-40 and R&B singer Omarion then hopped on the line to discuss working on Footaction’s “Free Flow: Fly Style” campaign and possibly collaborating for the Vallejo rep’s forthcoming albums The D-Boy Diary 1 & 2.
E-40 also recalled almost making a record with another veteran, Shaquille O’Neal. “I had a distribution deal with Jive Records and Shaquille was on Jive Records, too… and we wanted to connect but we just never had a chance but we always see each other, always respect, that’s my friend, that’s my partner,” E-40 says. “A lot of people don’t know that he’s one of the most successful NBA rappers because this boy got gold and platinum plaques. Out of all the basketball players that tried it, he actually got proof.”
The trio also discuss the Super Bowl 2017 halftime show drama and offer their own picks for potential performers in Houston as well as the songs of the summer.
