
Don’t sleep on The Dø. The French/Finnish electro-pop duo’s infectious new album Shake Shook Shaken came out last year in their homeland, but didn’t drop in America until this year, so we’ve got an excuse for taking our time. Touring America and gearing up for a gig today (June 12) at Bonnaroo, Olivia Merilahti and Dan Levy stopped by Billboard’s New York office to chat with Chris Payne for the podcast.
Levy rolled into Billboard wearing a custom jacket with his band’s own logo on the back (sort of like the look countrymen Phoenix have rocked on tour). So why are European musicians better at looking fly in their own gear than their American counterparts? What’s cool right now in French music and how does it affect what The Dø makes? They spoke on these topics, as well as their MySpace origins and their unique relationship with the Pizza Hut and McDonalds in Billings, Mont.
